Bus Was Carrying 48 Passengers from Madhya Pradesh
Ahwa, February 2 A tragic road accident in Gujarat’s Dang district near the Saputara Valley early Sunday morning claimed the lives of five people and left 35 others injured. The bus, which was arriving from Nashik, lost control and plunged into a 35-foot-deep gorge near the Malegaon Forest Guesthouse, approximately 2.5 kilometers from Saputara in Dang-Ahwa district. The vehicle was carrying 48 pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh, who were on a religious journey to various pilgrimage sites.
Accident Details and Casualties Identified
According to initial reports, the private bus veered off the road and fell into the deep ravine near Saputara. Among the deceased, two were women and three were men. The deceased have been identified as:
- Ratanlal Jatav (Driver)
- Bholaram Koswa
- Bijroni Yadav (Pappu)
- Guddi Rajesh Yadav
- Kailashbai Birpal Yadav
The 35 injured passengers suffered varying degrees of injuries, with one person critically wounded and referred to a higher medical facility. Others have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment. In response to the accident, the district administration launched a rescue operation, scouring the area to ensure no more victims were trapped in the gorge.
Religious Pilgrimage Turns into a Tragedy
As per available information, the passengers had embarked on their religious journey on December 23 from Guna, Shivpuri, and Ashoknagar districts in Madhya Pradesh. They were traveling in a convoy of four private buses to visit pilgrimage sites across Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. Unfortunately, one of the buses met with a fatal accident on Sunday morning, leaving it severely damaged.
Authorities have begun an investigation into the cause of the accident, assessing whether mechanical failure, driver fatigue, or road conditions played a role in the tragic incident. The survivors and families of the victims are receiving necessary assistance from local officials, and further updates are expected as the situation develops.
