Shimla, February 10 The weather across Himachal Pradesh remains clear, with rising temperatures bringing relief from the severe cold. Bright sunshine in most areas has provided much-needed warmth to residents. The state’s average minimum temperature has increased by nearly 1°C, reducing the impact of extreme winter. However, weather patterns are expected to shift once again in the coming days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate snowfall and rain are likely in the higher reaches of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu, Sirmaur, Chamba, and Shimla districts on February 10 and 11. Meanwhile, clear skies are expected from February 12 to 14, before a fresh Western Disturbance brings snowfall and rain to the higher altitudes on February 15 and 16.

Severe Cold Persists in Tribal Areas, Three Locations Record Sub-Zero Temperatures
Despite rising temperatures in some regions, tribal and high-altitude areas continue to experience harsh winter conditions. Three locations recorded sub-zero temperatures, with Tabo in Lahaul-Spiti being the coldest at -5.6°C. Other cold spots include:
Keylong (Lahaul-Spiti) -4.0°C
Kukumseri (Lahaul-Spiti) -3.1°C
Kalpa (Kinnaur) 0.4°C
Shimla Nights Warmer Than Plains
Surprisingly, Shimla’s night temperature remained higher than that of several plain areas in the state, offering comparative warmth despite its altitude. Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of 8.6°C, while some lower-altitude regions experienced cooler nights:
Sundernagar 6.5°C
Una 3.6°C
Solan 5.2°C
Mandi 7.6°C
Bilaspur 6.7°C
Manali (Tourist Hub) 5.4°C
Dharamshala 5.2°C
Weather Set to Change Again in Coming Days
Kuldeep Srivastava, Director of IMD Shimla, confirmed that minimum temperatures across the state have slightly increased in the last 24 hours. However, a fresh Western Disturbance is expected to impact Himachal Pradesh on February 15 and 16, bringing rain and snowfall to the higher altitudes.
With frequent temperature fluctuations and intermittent snowfall, the state is likely to witness a dynamic weather pattern in the coming weeks, impacting travel and tourism in the region.
