Gwalior-Shahdol Divisions Witness Intense Cold Conditions

Bhopal, February 10 Cold winds have intensified winter conditions across Madhya Pradesh, pushing night temperatures below 5°C in several regions. Gwalior and Shahdol divisions recorded the lowest temperatures, with Kalyanpur at 4.6°C and Anwri at 4.8°C on Sunday night. Meanwhile, Bhopal and Jabalpur also felt the cold, though daytime temperatures remained warm due to sunshine.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), relief from the cold spell is expected over the next three days, with day and night temperatures rising by 2-3°C.

While several cities in the state recorded temperatures below 10°C, the IMD forecasts a gradual increase in temperatures over the next few days.

Daytime temperatures crossed 30°C in most cities, providing a stark contrast between cold nights and warm afternoons.

Wind Speed Declining, Cold Impact Expected to Ease

Over the past few days, cold wind speeds reached 36-40 km/h, but they have now reduced to 10-12 km/h, easing the winter chill. On Sunday, jet stream winds at 12.6 km altitude blew at 177 km/h over northern and eastern India, but their impact on Madhya Pradesh was minimal.

IMD forecasts that cold mornings and nights will persist, while daytime temperatures will continue to rise. A further increase in maximum temperatures is expected on February 11, with night temperatures also showing an upward trend.
