Samsung has revised its smartphone production strategy for 2025, aiming for a higher production volume of the upcoming Galaxy S25 series while reducing overall smartphone production. According to recent reports, the tech giant is targeting the production of 229.4 million phones in 2025, a slight decrease from the earlier projection of 237 million units.

Galaxy S25 Production Focused on Premium Devices

Despite the overall reduction in production, Samsung plans to focus more on its premium devices, particularly the Galaxy S25 series. The company has set a production target of 37 million units for the Galaxy S25 lineup, which will be higher than the expected 35 million units for the Galaxy S24 series. This shift underscores Samsung’s emphasis on premium sales, with budget and entry-level phones seeing lower production volumes.

Foldable Phones Still a Niche Focus

In addition to its flagship Galaxy S25 series, Samsung also has foldable devices in the pipeline for 2025. The production estimates for Samsung’s foldable smartphones are more modest, with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 expected to reach 3 million units, the Galaxy Z Flip FE at 900,000 units, and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 projected to see 2 million units. This brings the total foldable smartphone production target to around 6 million units, signaling a slower adoption rate in the market.

Launch Plans for 2025

The Galaxy S25 series is slated for launch in late January 2025, while the foldable devices are expected to debut in July. Samsung is also preparing a “Slim” variant of the Galaxy S25 series, though its exact launch timeline remains unclear.

With this new production strategy, Samsung aims to strike a balance between premium device production and a more conservative approach to budget models, ensuring a steady focus on high-end sales in the upcoming year.
