Srinagar, February 5: The freezing temperatures in Kashmir continue, with Gulmarg emerging as the coldest place in the region.
According to the Meteorological Department, light rain was recorded in parts of South Kashmir, including Pahalgam and Kokernag, as well as Kupwara in North Kashmir, over the past 24 hours. On Wednesday, sporadic light rain and snowfall are expected in some areas, while partially cloudy and dry weather is likely to prevail from Thursday onwards.
Gulmarg Hits -7.5°C, Coldest in the Region
As per the official data from the Meteorological Department, Gulmarg in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district recorded a bone-chilling -7.5°C, making it the coldest place in Kashmir.
Other key temperature readings from Kashmir include:
- Pahalgam (South Kashmir): -3.6°C
- Srinagar: -1.2°C (Slightly higher than the previous night)
- Qazigund: -1°C
Weather Forecast: Light Rain and Snow Likely from February 9-12
The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir between February 9 and 12. Scattered light rain and snowfall are expected on February 9 and 10, while cloudy skies with intermittent rain are likely on February 11 and 12.
