The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert predicting significant weather changes across various regions in the coming days. According to the latest forecast, a fresh Western Disturbance is set to impact North-West India, bringing strong winds, rain, and snowfall.

Hailstorm in Rajasthan

Jammu and Kashmir to Witness Rain and Snowfall

Jammu and Kashmir will experience sporadic rain and snowfall over the next three days, the IMD reported on Sunday. This winter has been particularly unusual, with colder-than-normal nights and comparatively warmer days. Officials also noted a severe rainfall deficit in January, with only 13% of the expected precipitation recorded from January 1 to 29.

The forecast suggests that light rain and snowfall are expected in isolated areas on Sunday. The weather is likely to become more active on February 10 and 11, leading to increased chances of precipitation across parts of Kashmir.

Western Disturbance to Impact North-West India

February has witnessed erratic weather patterns, fluctuating between cold waves and sudden temperature surges. The IMD warns that the latest Western Disturbance will bring strong winds, which may intensify the cold across northern regions. Between February 9 and 12, heavy rain and snowfall are expected in the Western Himalayan region. Additionally, parts of Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam are likely to receive rainfall.

Dry Conditions Persist in Rajasthan

In contrast, Rajasthan continues to experience dry weather. Fatehpur in Sikar district recorded the lowest temperature at 3.2°C on Saturday. Other notable temperatures included 4.3°C in Karauli, 4.6°C in Dausa, 5.2°C in Mount Abu, and 5.6°C in Churu. Meanwhile, Jaipur, the state capital, recorded a minimum temperature of 10.6°C.

According to meteorological officials, the state is expected to see a slight rise in temperatures over the next 48 hours, with minimum and maximum temperatures likely to increase by 2-3°C.

Precautionary Measures Advised

With rapidly changing weather conditions, residents in affected areas should prepare for sudden cold spells, strong winds, and precipitation. The IMD advises travelers and locals in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
