Smuggled for Drug Use?

According to preliminary investigations, the detained passengers were allegedly transporting these dangerous creatures for drug-related purposes. The customs department acted on a tip-off regarding suspicious individuals arriving on an AirAsia flight from Bangkok. As soon as the flight landed in Jaipur, authorities detained both individuals for questioning.

Upon inspection of their luggage, officials discovered seven plastic containers filled with a variety of live snakes, scorpions, and spiders. The initial interrogation suggests that these animals were being smuggled with the intent to be used as part of narcotic-related activities.

Passengers Claim Ignorance

Both passengers have claimed they were unaware of the contents inside the containers. However, authorities remain skeptical and are conducting a deeper probe into their statements.

Wildlife Department Joins Investigation

Following the discovery, customs officials alerted the wildlife department to assess the species and their potential threat. The wildlife department team has now taken charge of the case and is investigating whether the smuggling was part of a larger illegal wildlife trade network.
