In today’s digital age, the Aadhaar card has become an essential document for various important tasks. This is particularly true when it comes to government schemes that transfer funds directly into students’ bank accounts. In light of this, the education department has issued new guidelines regarding the creation and updating of Aadhaar cards for students.

Mandatory Aadhaar Card Verification and Updates

According to the latest directive from the education department, having an Aadhaar card is now mandatory for school admissions. The new regulations stipulate that the Aadhaar card will not only be verified once but must undergo two rounds of verification and updating. Letters regarding this process have already been dispatched to district inspectors and school officials at both primary and secondary levels.

Schedule for Aadhaar Updates

The state government has introduced several educational initiatives, including Kanyashree and Sabuj Sathi, to ensure that no student is deprived of the benefits these programs offer. To facilitate this, the Aadhaar card updates are now compulsory.

  • First Update: At the age of 5
  • Second Update: At the age of 15

These updates will be carried out free of charge, with the responsibility resting on the respective schools and district education officials.

Linking Aadhaar for National Examinations

As per the notification, students must link their phone numbers with their Aadhaar cards to apply for various national-level examinations. This requirement aims to streamline the application process and enhance security.

QR Code Feature for Easy Guidance

To further assist students and parents, the education department has introduced a unique QR code in the guidelines. Scanning this code will direct users to a video published by the Aadhaar authority, providing a detailed explanation of the updating process.

Swapan Mondal, the General Secretary of the Bengal Teachers and Employees Association, expressed his views on the importance of the Aadhaar card for accessing government benefits. He emphasized that having an Aadhaar card is crucial for every student.

With the implementation of these new guidelines, students will have easier access to government schemes, reinforcing the significance of the Aadhaar card in the education sector. This initiative not only aims to enhance educational access but also strives to ensure that all students can benefit from various governmental programs effectively.
