ZTE is reportedly working on the successor to its first foldable phone, the Nubia Flip 5G, launched earlier this year. The upcoming device is expected to be named Nubia Flip II. The device recently appeared in the IMEI database in August, and more recently, it was spotted on China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) certification platform. The presence of the Nubia Flip II on this platform reveals more details about its specifications and design.

Nubia Flip II Spotted on MIIT Certification Platform

According to the MIIT certification, the Nubia Flip II will come equipped with a 4,225mAh battery, which is slightly smaller than its predecessor’s 4,310mAh battery. The device will run on Android 14. As for connectivity, the phone will support 5G NR NSA/NR, TD-LTE, LTE FDD, dual-SIM dual-standby mode, as well as Bluetooth and GPS, including A-GPS and GLONASS navigation.

Key Upgrades in Nubia Flip II

One of the most notable upgrades in the Nubia Flip II is its larger secondary display. Unlike the round design in the first generation, the new device will feature a rectangular display, offering a more functional interface for quick interactions and notifications. The secondary screen will be a 3-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 422 x 682 pixels.

The primary display inside the foldable will be a 6.85-inch AMOLED panel with a high resolution of 1,188 x 2,970 pixels, ensuring a premium viewing experience.

Camera and Design Changes

In terms of camera layout, the Nubia Flip II will feature two vertical cameras with an LED flash positioned alongside the secondary screen. The design of the frame will also be more rounded, with the volume buttons and power button placed on the right side of the device. Interestingly, the power button will double as a fingerprint scanner for added security.

Recap of Nubia Flip 5G Features

For reference, the Nubia Flip 5G, launched earlier this year, boasts a Full HD+ resolution display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1.43-inch circular OLED secondary screen. The primary display is 6.9 inches in size. The Flip 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, and a 50MP primary camera with a dual-camera setup. Additionally, the device supports stereo speakers and 33W fast charging.

With the Nubia Flip II expected to bring several improvements, including a larger secondary display and refined design, it will likely offer even better performance and functionality than its predecessor, making it an exciting option for those seeking a cutting-edge foldable phone.
